200 smugglers and 4,040 irregular migrants apprehended in the last month

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made a statement regarding operations against migrant smuggling organizers and irregular migrants. In operations conducted continuously by the gendarmerie across 81 provinces over the last month, 200 migrant smuggling organizers and 4,040 irregular migrants were apprehended.

Of the migrant smuggling organizers, 82 were arrested, and judicial control measures were imposed on 31. 

107 VEHICLES USED IN MIGRANT SMUGGLING SEIZED

Under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices and the Gendarmerie General Command's Department of Combating Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking, 107 vehicles used in migrant smuggling were seized in operations carried out by Provincial Gendarmerie Commands.  

The apprehended irregular migrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorates of Migration Management, and deportation procedures were initiated immediately. Minister Yerlikaya congratulated the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices that coordinated the operations and the gendarmerie that carried them out.
