22 arrests in 4 separate investigations into CHP municipalities! 14 people released under judicial control

In the 5th wave of operations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the İBB, detention warrants were issued for 47 people, including CHP mayors.

This 5th wave of operations began after Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who is alleged to be the leader of a criminal organization and was cited as the basis for the Beşiktaş Municipality investigation, sought to benefit from effective remorse provisions as part of an investigation into a criminal organization launched in Istanbul in recent months.

The legal proceedings at the courthouse have been completed for 36 individuals detained as part of 4 separate investigations: the corruption investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), the investigation into the criminal organization allegedly led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş, and investigations concerning the Büyükçekmece Municipality and the Beşiktaş Municipality Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs.

CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION INTO İBB

As part of the corruption investigation into the İBB, it was decided to arrest former CHP MP Aykut Erdoğdu, Ağaç AŞ General Manager Ali Sukas, and Beylikdüzü Deputy Mayor Veysel Erçevik.

A judicial control measure was applied to Gürkan Polat, an assistant to the suspended Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık.

CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION INTO BÜYÜKÇEKMECE MUNICIPALITY

As part of the corruption investigation into the Büyükçekmece Municipality, Mayor Hasan Akgün and Deputy Mayor Ömer Kazancı were arrested, while it was decided to apply judicial control measures to Halil Satı.

INVESTIGATION INTO BEŞİKTAŞ MUNICIPALITY

As part of the investigation launched following a tip-off regarding procurement made via the direct purchase method for the 2019 October 29 Republic Day celebrations by the Beşiktaş Municipality Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs, it was decided to arrest Mehmet Mandacı, the then-Beşiktaş Director of Culture and Social Affairs who is currently an Avcılar Deputy Mayor; Rıza Can Özdemir, the current Deputy Mayor of Büyükçekmece; and İsmet Abacı, the father of Beşiktaş Deputy Mayor Alican Abacı.

Beşiktaş Municipality employees Görkem Kızılkaynak, İsmail Yalçın, and Şazime Sena Çelik, along with company owner Hakan Ateş, were released under judicial control conditions including a "travel ban" and "reporting to the police station."

INVESTIGATION INTO THE Aziz İhsan AKTAŞ CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION

As part of the investigation into the Aziz İhsan Aktaş criminal organization, it was decided to arrest İBB Deputy Secretary General Erdal Celal Aksoy, Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin and her husband Celal Tekin, İSFALT General Manager Burak Korzay, Avcılar Deputy Mayor Erhan Daka, CHP Party Assembly member Baki Aydöner, Fikret Demir, Ebubekir Akın, Özer Ayık, Sırrı Küçük, and Yusuf Yadoğlu.

JUDICIAL CONTROL FOR 14 PEOPLE

It was decided to apply judicial control measures to Can Zafer Yaman, Gürkan Dölekli, Songül Demir, Bektaş Yıldız, Caner Vural, Fahri Aksoy, Fatih Yadoğlu, and Ozan İş.

Thus, a total of 22 people were arrested in the 4 separate investigations launched into alleged corruption centered in Istanbul, while judicial control measures were applied to 14 people.

On the other hand, it was learned that out of 38 people detained as part of the investigations, 1 was released from police custody due to health problems, and 1 was arrested by the court.
