23 tons seized: 'Counterfeit alcohol' operation in 81 provinces ahead of New Year's

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared the details of the Çengel-4 operations on his X account. 

Yerlikaya stated the following:

"Under the coordination of our General Directorate of Security's Department of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime; with the participation of Provincial Police Departments' Anti-Smuggling Branches and the Revenue Administration, 'Çengel-4 Operations' were carried out in 81 provinces to put an end to illegal activities that threaten the life safety and health of our citizens and also cause our country to suffer a large amount of tax loss.

During the operations, 14 illegal alcohol production facilities were uncovered. 8,310 bottles of smuggled/counterfeit alcoholic beverages, 13,472 liters of smuggled/counterfeit alcoholic beverages, 12,131 liters of ethyl alcohol, 1,704 empty bottles, 1,600 excise stamps, 1,680 alcohol flavorings, and 68,121 labels were seized.

Provincial units of the Revenue Administration also participated in the operation. In a joint assessment with the Revenue Administration, a tax loss of 25 million TL was prevented."
