Three people from the same family lost their lives in a fire that broke out in an apartment in the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
Three people lost their lives in a fire that broke out in an apartment in Kahramanmaraş.
The fire occurred on the first floor of an apartment building in the Boğaziçi neighborhood of the Onikişubat district. Upon notification by neighbors who noticed smoke rising from the apartment, numerous firefighting crews were dispatched to the scene.
While the fire was brought under control in a short time with the intervention of the crews, cooling efforts were subsequently carried out.
44-year-old Esra Saltalı, 32-year-old Muhammed Saltalı, and 26-year-old Abdulgani Saltalı lost their lives in the fire. It was learned that the three individuals who lost their lives were disabled.
Melih Çevik, one of the eyewitnesses to the incident, stated that he tried to help after noticing the fire, saying, "It happened suddenly, I couldn't understand anything. I was working. When I saw the fire, I wanted to help. They gave me a wet blanket, and I went inside with it. I tried to save the people. I was able to get two children out. The flames were very high. Later, the firefighting crews arrived and intervened."
Police and fire department investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
