3 more youths arrested in İmamoğlu protests released
Three more youths who were arrested for violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations during the Ekrem İmamoğlu protests have been released. It was learned that 43 more students remain in prison.
Following the detention of Republican People's Party (CHP) presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on March 19, more than a thousand people were detained and 278 were arrested during protests that began across the country.
Over the past week, the number of released youths has exceeded 200.
RELEASE DECISION FOR 3 MORE YOUTHS
According to ANKA, the Istanbul 65th Criminal Court of First Instance issued a ruling regarding three youths who were detained and arrested during a dawn operation on April 11. The court ordered the release of the youths, who were being held on charges of violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations.
Furthermore, all judicial control measures imposed on the youths were lifted. The trial for these individuals will continue on April 18.
43 MORE YOUTHS STILL IN PRISON
Meanwhile, volunteer lawyers representing the youths stated that 43 youths remain in custody.
