3-story building collapses in Küçükçekmece, Kartaltepe! 1 person lost their life, 2 detained

A 3-story building has collapsed in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul. A Turkmenistan national who remained under the rubble has lost their life. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 9 people were rescued and 2 individuals have been detained.

Following the collapse of a building in Küçükçekmece, fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

A large number of fire, medical, police, and AFAD teams were sent to the area.

7 INJURED, 2 IN SERIOUS CONDITION

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül stated the following in his remarks regarding the matter:

"The ground floor plus 3-story building collapsed on its own.

Teams arrived at the scene in the first instance under the coordination of AFAD.

7 people were extracted with injuries. Rescue efforts are currently ongoing.

It is said that 2 more people are under the rubble.

We have no confirmed deaths reaching us. Of the 7 people, 2 are in slightly more serious condition, and 5 are in normal condition.

Built in 1988, there is no identified cause for the collapse. We will provide information in the coming hours. Our Chief Public Prosecutor is at the scene; get well soon to us all."

LIFELESS BODY OF 1 PERSON REACHED

In a statement made by the Istanbul Governor's Office, it was noted that the lifeless body of 1 citizen had been reached.

BUILDING OWNER DETAINED

In a statement made by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the phrase "The owner of the building that collapsed in Küçükçekmece has been detained" was used.

It was revealed that the owner of the collapsed building is Hacı Murat Gençtürk.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, in his statement regarding the matter, used the following expressions:

"I wish God's mercy upon our citizen who lost their life as a result of the collapse of a building in Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district, and I wish a speedy recovery to our injured citizens.

An investigation has been initiated by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident that saddened us all, and 1 Deputy Chief Prosecutor and 1 Public Prosecutor, along with a 3-person expert committee, have been assigned.

The expert committee has begun its examinations.

The investigation is being conducted meticulously."

MINISTER YERLIKAYA ANNOUNCED: CONDITION OF MOTHER AND 6-MONTH-OLD BABY IS CRITICAL!

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, who arrived in the region, said that 1 person in the building was of Iranian nationality, while the other 6 were of Turkmenistan nationality.

Minister Yerlikaya stated that the Turkmenistan nationals were foreigners with completely legal residency status.

Stating that 2 Turkish citizens did not even need treatment, Yerlikaya said, "Among the 6 foreign national guests whose treatment process is ongoing, the condition of the mother and her 6-month-old baby is seen as relatively more critical than the others."

Calling for urban transformation, Yerlikaya used the expressions, "We want to take precautions, we want to do it with the state and the nation hand in hand."

Yerlikaya also reported that 2 people have been detained.

Minister Yerlikaya also said that the rubble would be cleared by tomorrow morning and that the other evacuated building in the area would also be demolished.
