30-year prison sentence sought for Ayşe Barım

An indictment has been prepared against Ayşe Barım, who was arrested as part of the Gezi Park investigation, seeking a prison sentence of 22 years and 6 months to 30 years for the charge of "aiding in the attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey or to partially or completely prevent it from performing its duties through the use of force and violence."

30-year prison sentence sought for Ayşe Barım

The investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into talent manager Ayşe Barım, following allegations in print and visual media regarding her participation in the Gezi Park-focused events in Taksim, has been completed.

In the indictment prepared as a result of the investigation, it was requested that the detained Barım be sentenced to 22 years and 6 months to 30 years in prison for the charge of "aiding in the attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey or to partially or completely prevent it from performing its duties through the use of force and violence."

The indictment, approved by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been sent to the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court for evaluation.

INVESTIGATION

Ayşe Barım, who was under investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following allegations in print and visual media regarding her participation in the Gezi Park-focused events in Taksim, had been arrested for the charge of "aiding in the attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey or to prevent it from performing its duties."

The investigation included findings from a wiretap transcript of a conversation between fugitive defendant Memet Ali Alabora and another person, which indicated that ideas were exchanged and implemented regarding the publication of a declaration by artists at Gezi Park during the Gezi Park-focused events.

It was stated that Barım had intense communication with Gezi Park case defendants Osman Kavala, Çiğdem Utku Mater, and Memet Ali Alabora, that she directed the artists she managed to participate in the Gezi Park events, and that she herself participated in the events with these actors.
