Istanbul Governor Davut Gül announced that 388 students who achieved a perfect score of 500 in the High School Entrance System (LGS) will be awarded a monthly scholarship of 3,000 lira each.
Governor Gül attended the program organized for students who scored 500 full points in the LGS in Istanbul, alongside Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
In his speech there, Gül stated that disadvantaged, gifted, and successful children are their priority, noting that 388 students who scored 500 full points in Istanbul are continuing their education in preparatory and 9th-grade classes.
Gül said, "The Century of Turkey will certainly be built. If it is to be built, we can do it with human capital. You have a very important achievement. You are successful students. As a state, as a nation, we want to be by your side. Throughout your educational life, whether in high school, university, or afterwards, whenever you need someone, we want you to see a member of the state by your side."
Thanking the students, especially their families and teachers, Gül expressed that the students have provided extraordinary emotions to Turkey and Istanbul.
Gül announced that they will provide scholarships to the 388 students who scored 500 full points and are studying in Istanbul with the following words:
"What will we do? Starting from January, we will give you a scholarship regularly every month, as much as we can. The amount we have determined for now is 3,000 lira per month, regularly... We will give it to all of you. May it be well-deserved. This means that in February, we owe you 6,000 lira because we will give you two months' worth. Towards the end of the month, we will deposit your 6,000 lira."
Explaining that they will meet with the students every month and engage in various activities with different students in places they want to see and visit, Gül said, "We have no special expectations from you. We have only one expectation; no matter where in the world you go, no matter which schools you study at, no matter what job you do, keep one foot in Turkey. Let one side of your heart and soul always be in these lands. This is what we want."
