34 MPs submit single-question motion to Akın Gürlek: How many bosses have been arrested or convicted?

34 members of parliament from opposition parties have submitted a written parliamentary question to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek to answer regarding the remarks that served as the grounds for the arrest of BİRTEK-SEN General President Mehmet Türkmen.

The motion posed the question: “How many bosses have been subject to investigations, taken into custody, arrested, or convicted in Gaziantep over the last 5 years due to workplace accidents, workplace homicides, occupational diseases, or the obstruction of trade union rights?”

Following the use of Türkmen’s remarks—in which he stated that bosses are not held accountable for workers who lose their lives in workplace accidents and homicides—as grounds for the accusation of “publicly spreading misleading information,” 34 MPs from various political parties submitted a single-question written motion to Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, asking: “How many bosses have been subject to investigations, taken into custody, arrested, or convicted in Gaziantep over the last 5 years due to workplace accidents, workplace homicides, occupational diseases, or the obstruction of trade union rights?”
