350 workers poisoned in Manisa

The Manisa Provincial Health Directorate has issued a written statement regarding the food poisoning incident.

"MEASURES WERE TAKEN FROM THE VERY FIRST MOMENT OF THE INCIDENT"

The statement from the Directorate is as follows:

“In our province, cases of food poisoning have occurred, which are believed to be caused by a catering company providing services to workplaces. Upon the increase in the number of cases applying to our hospitals with similar complaints around noon today, the necessary coordination and efforts were carried out by our Provincial Health Directorate, and necessary measures were taken from the very first moment the incident was learned, and the process was managed without allowing any disruptions.

"321 PATIENTS HAVE BEEN DISCHARGED"

Water samples were taken from the relevant catering company by our Provincial Health Directorate, and food samples were taken by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. The treatment of our citizens affected by the incident was carried out at Manisa City Hospital, Merkezefendi State Hospital, Saruhanlı State Hospital, MCBÜ Hafsa Sultan Hospital, Private Grandmedical Hospital, and Private Sekiz Eylül Hospital. As of 22:12, the total number of citizens affected by the incident is 350, the number of patients discharged is 321, and the number of patients still receiving treatment in our hospitals is 29.

"AN ADMINISTRATIVE INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED INTO THE CATERING COMPANY"

There are no patients among those affected who are in life-threatening condition. The number of applications, which was high during the noon hours, decreased in the following hours, and the number of applications to our hospitals has dropped. Inspections at the relevant catering company are ongoing, and a judicial and administrative investigation has been launched. We wish a speedy recovery to our citizens affected by the incident and hope that similar cases will not occur again.”
