In the incident that took place in the İncesu district on October 26, while 4 12th-grade high school students were together, one of the students, A.K., set fire to a photograph of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

4 SUSPECTS HAD BEEN ARRESTED

The incident was also shared on social media. Following the event, the 4 students were taken into custody by gendarmerie teams. After their procedures at the District Gendarmerie Command, the 4 suspects were referred to the courthouse and arrested for the crime of 'publicly insulting the memory of Atatürk'.

DEFENDANTS DENIED THE CHARGES, RELEASE DECISION ISSUED

The investigation conducted by the İncesu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was completed and an indictment was prepared. The indictment, which was accepted by the İncesu Criminal Court of First Instance, requested punishment for the 4 defendants. The 4 detained defendants, who appeared before the judge for the first time today in a closed session at the İncesu Criminal Court of First Instance, were present at the hearing.

The defendants did not accept the charges brought against them and requested their acquittal. With the interim decision issued, the presiding judge decided to release all defendants under judicial control measures and adjourned the hearing.
