5 arrested in investigation into threat against prosecutor

The Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the threatening of Public Prosecutor Y.E., who is conducting the investigation into allegations that 12 babies died due to negligence after being admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital.

THE INCIDENT

While conducting the investigation into the transfer of babies to private hospitals for illicit gain, lawyer A.A. spoke with Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror and Organized Crime Investigation Prosecutor Y.E. first by phone and then in his office on August 30, threatening that if he did not secure the release of certain suspects, an assassination attempt would be carried out against the prosecutor and his family could be harmed.

Following this, an investigation was launched, during which research was conducted into how information regarding the prosecutor's relatives and their places of residence was leaked, and a recording device was placed in the prosecutor's office.

It was recorded that M.K.Z., who was determined to be in contact with lawyer A.A., explicitly threatened the prosecutor with death during the meeting. The investigation revealed that the prosecutor's personal and family information had been queried in the system by 3 gendarmerie personnel on a date prior to the threat.

11 people were detained in the operation organized within the scope of the investigation. The 3 gendarmerie personnel whose procedures were completed were released, and 8 suspects, including 2 lawyers, were referred to the courthouse today.

On the other hand, the summary of proceedings prepared as a result of the investigation into 47 suspects, including doctors and nurses, 22 of whom are under arrest, who were determined to have obtained illicit gain by acting in concert with individuals working at the 112 Emergency Call Center to transfer emergency infant patients to the neonatal units of private hospitals they had pre-arranged with, which was conducted by Prosecutor Y.E., had been sent to the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
