50 people poisoned after attending a religious memorial meal

The incident occurred in the evening hours on Arnavutköy Durusu Neighborhood Uğuralp Street. According to allegations, a citizen whose son was set to leave for military service invited neighbors to a religious memorial meal during the day.

50 PEOPLE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

Some of the citizens who attended the memorial and ate the served food began to feel ill a few hours later. Upon notification, numerous medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The poisoned citizens were taken to Arnavutköy State Hospital by ambulances. It was learned that approximately 50 people, including women and children, were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

"THERE IS NO PROBLEM AT THE MOMENT"

Speaking about the subject, neighborhood resident Tarkan Yalçın said, "We were holding my nephew's military send-off. We had a religious memorial read. We served a meal here. There was poisoning due to this food. We are currently at the hospital. All the injured are doing well now. There was only nausea and vomiting. It did not affect everyone. It affected those with weaker constitutions. We spoke with the doctors. There is no problem at the moment."

Bahar Çayır, who fell ill after the meal, said, "We are neighbors. We went to our neighbor's military memorial. I have also had stomach surgery. I only ate 2-3 spoonfuls of the food, but I was poisoned. Thank God we are fine now. There was chicken with rice and halva at the meal."

Another local resident, Ahmet Hundi, who described the event, said, "Approximately 50 people fell ill. My aunt, who held the memorial, said that they made the rice themselves but had bought the chicken on Friday. After putting it in the refrigerator, they boiled it and put it on top of the rice. They ate around 16:00. Symptoms began in the evening hours. There were symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. Most do not have anything serious, but there are also those whose condition is severe. Our doctors are taking care of them. May God be pleased with them," he said.
