522 thousand Euros found hidden inside a car gas tank
Police searched a car preparing to enter Turkey from Bulgaria. Hundreds of thousands of Euros in undeclared cash were found hidden inside the vehicle's gas tank.
Officers at Bulgaria’s Kapitan Andreevo customs checkpoint, located across from the Edirne Kapıkule border gate, discovered 522 thousand 710 Euros in undeclared cash during three separate inspections of vehicles exiting the country.
A risk analysis was conducted on a car driven by a person with dual Bulgarian and Turkish citizenship who was traveling alone from Bulgaria to Turkey.

Following the risk analysis method, the vehicle was sent for a detailed customs inspection, including the use of X-ray equipment.
During the physical inspection of the vehicle, it was determined that the automotive gas cylinder in the trunk had been modified as a hiding place for bundles of Euro banknotes.
A total of 522 thousand 710 Euros in undeclared cash was found during the search.
Proceedings have been initiated by investigative customs inspectors under the supervision of the Haskovo Regional Prosecutor's Office - Svilengrad Regional Prosecutor's Office regarding the seized and undeclared money.
