58 arrested in Şanlıurfa-based illegal betting operation
Of the 61 suspects detained in a simultaneous cyber operation conducted across 21 provinces under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command, 58 were arrested by the court and sent to prison.
The judicial process has been completed in the massive illegal betting operation centered in Şanlıurfa and covering 21 provinces. The suspects captured in the operation, carried out within the scope of combating cybercrime, were referred to the courthouse under extensive security measures following their processing at the police station.
5 BILLION 800 MILLION LIRA IN ACCOUNT ACTIVITY
Technical examinations conducted on the suspects' bank accounts revealed that a money flow of approximately 5 billion 800 million lira was managed through illegal betting activities. Of the 61 suspects who appeared before the judge on charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes" and "violating Law No. 7258," 58 were arrested, while 3 suspects were released under judicial control conditions. It was emphasized that the Gendarmerie teams' pursuit of illegal activities in the cyber world will continue with determination.
