7 aircraft and numerous teams dispatched to fire in Denizli

In a statement regarding the matter, the Denizli Governor's Office said, “Our fight against the forest fire that began on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 14:48 in the Başkarcı neighborhood of the Merkezefendi district continues. Although conditions are quite difficult due to the steep, mountainous, and rocky structure of the terrain, ground teams affiliated with the General Directorate of Forestry and our volunteers are intervening in the fire from the ground and with aircraft. Construction machinery has been dispatched to the field to build roads to areas that are inaccessible. The challenging terrain conditions have made road construction work difficult. However, so far, 7 roads have been opened toward the fire area through the difficult region.

Ground interventions made with fire trucks from these opened roads are yielding positive results. We would like to state that the fight against the fire continues with a total of 1,069 people, including 7 aircraft belonging to our General Directorate of Forestry, our Ministry of Interior, and our Ministry of National Defense, 67 fire trucks, 43 first-response vehicles, 22 pieces of construction machinery, fire department and water tanker vehicles from our municipalities, construction machinery belonging to public institutions, as well as 529 General Directorate of Forestry personnel, 426 volunteers (who have received training in firefighting), and 114 personnel from other institutions.

For this reason, it is kindly requested that our citizens take into account the statements to be made by official sources. We thank our forestry organization, our public institutions and organizations, our municipalities, our non-governmental organizations, and our volunteers who are fighting the fire selflessly,” the statement concluded.
