72-year-old man drinks 800 TL surface cleaner because alcohol is expensive
In Arnavutköy, Istanbul, a 72-year-old man who found alcohol prices too high ended up in the hospital after drinking an 800 TL surface cleaner he ordered online. It was learned that the individual, who described the surface cleaner as a natural mixture, had consumed it many times before and stated that the 5-liter mixture he ordered lasted him 15 days.
A 72-year-old man identified as O.G., who lives in the Arnavutköy district of Istanbul, went to the hospital yesterday evening due to stomach pain.
Following examinations, it was determined that the individual had consumed surface cleaner and became ill as a result of the substance reacting in his system.
Police teams took the individual's statement at the hospital upon the doctors' suspicions. In his initial verbal statement, 72-year-old O.G. told the police that due to the high cost of alcohol, he had been drinking a surface cleaner he ordered online for about 6 months, which he claimed contained alcohol, and that the 5-liter surface cleaner he purchased lasted him 15 days.
It was learned that the individual's health condition remains serious, and his treatment at the hospital is ongoing.
