7.3 magnitude earthquake warning for that city from Ahmet Ercan!
Earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan announced that he expects a destructive earthquake between 5.5 and 7.3 in magnitude in Van between 2035 and 2050. Ercan issued important warnings, stating that buildings with 5 or more floors would be the most likely to collapse.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan traveled to Van for an Earthquake Workshop. Sharing the details of his work there, Ercan made statements regarding the magnitude of the earthquakes expected to occur in the region.
Prof. Ercan said the following regarding potential earthquakes:
The North Anatolian Fault does not end in Karlıova (Bingöl). It extends through Varto and Muş to Erciş, Muradiye, Doruktay, and Hoy (Iran). It has a right-lateral strike-slip of 88 km in the Murat River. The displacement in Erzincan is 65 km. The Van wing is older. The rupture began in the east 3-4.5 million years ago.
A destructive earthquake between M5.5 and M7.3 is expected in the province of Van between 2035 and 2050.
