8 bodies found on the beach in 6 days: 3-4 bodies also washed up in Cyprus!

Antalya Provincial Police Chief Orhan Çevik met with members of the press at the Antalya Journalists Association (AGC) and spoke at the 2023 evaluation meeting.

Responding to questions from journalists, Çevik also made a statement regarding the 8 bodies found on beaches at different points in the city in less than a week.

"3-4 BODIES HAVE ALSO WASHED UP IN CYPRUS..."

Reminding everyone of the statement made by the Antalya Governor's Office regarding the bodies washing up on the shores, Çevik said that about 2.5-3 months ago, around 80-90 Syrians boarded a ship in Lebanon, that no news had been received from the ship as it headed into the open Mediterranean, and that there were assessments that it had sunk.

Stating that based on this assessment, it is believed that the bodies washed up on the Antalya coast due to reasons such as adverse weather conditions and currents, Çevik spoke as follows:

"3-4 bodies have also washed up in Cyprus. We understand from the clothing and shoes on them that they are of Syrian manufacture. Therefore, we have an assessment in that direction. The matter is being followed seriously by the relevant units. The Coast Guard and Marine Police are constantly scanning the sea with their equipment, and our work continues. We have not encountered any so far, but we were able to discover them through the way they washed up on the shore earlier. I believe that our state will carry out the process in international waters with all its means, in coordination with the relevant states."
