A 10-year friendship: A man in Kocaeli stole his disabled friend's car

The incident occurred on December 20, 2023, at a coffeehouse in Darıca. It is alleged that Y.E. got into the car of his friend Salih Yıldız, who has a 96 percent disability report, under the pretext of parking it, and then disappeared.

A 10-YEAR FRIENDSHIP

Unable to hear from his friend, Yıldız waited for a while, thinking it was a joke. After being unable to reach Y.E. for 25 days, Salih Yıldız filed a complaint. It was learned that Y.E. and Salih Yıldız had been friends for 10 years.

"WE THOUGHT HE WAS JOKING"

Recounting the day of the incident, Salih Yıldız said, "While we were sitting at the coffeehouse with our friends, I needed to move my car from in front of the door because another vehicle was arriving. Since it would take me a long time to go down the stairs, my friend Y.E. asked for the keys, saying, 'I'll park the car somewhere else.' I gave him the car keys. After Y.E. took the keys, he took the car and left. We thought Y.E. was joking and would come back, but he never did. I haven't been able to reach him since."

"HE SHOULD SEARCH HIS CONSCIENCE AND BRING MY CAR BACK"

Stating that he has been unable to reach Y.E. for a long time, Yıldız said, "His phone was on the first day, and I thought he had gone somewhere and would return, but later I couldn't reach him at all. I went to the police station and filed a complaint. The police said the vehicle was detected by the license plate recognition system in Istanbul but that there was no warrant for the car, and they could only seize it if it were stopped at a checkpoint. I also filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office, but I haven't obtained any results so far. Y.E. should search his conscience and bring my car back. There are many other victims like me. He has defrauded other people as well."
