A first in LGS: Nutrition packages to be distributed to 924 thousand students

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) is implementing a historic practice in this year's central exam under the High School Transition System (LGS). During the break between the two sessions of the exam, free "nutrition packages" will be distributed for the first time to exactly 924 thousand 191 students whose parents have provided consent. Even the exam halls for the students have been organized according to these requests.

Ahead of the LGS to be held on Saturday, June 13, the MEB has made a radical change in exam logistics. All details have been finalized for the project, which was implemented to balance students' blood sugar during the 45-minute break between the verbal and numerical sessions and to eliminate the need to bring food from outside.

WHAT IS ON THE MENU?

The Ministry has prepared a healthy menu that will meet students' energy needs and will not cause a lack of concentration. The contents of the nutrition packages to be distributed are as follows:

•Oat bar with dried fruit

•Walnut kernels

•Raisins

•Water (Due to logistics, products other than water will be sent to students abroad)

91% OF STUDENTS REQUESTED IT: PLACEMENTS CHANGED!

During the application process, the parents of a total of 1 million 22 thousand 658 candidates who will take the central exam were asked via e-Okul whether they wanted a nutrition package. In line with the responses received, approximately 91 percent of the students (924 thousand 191 students) stated that they wanted to benefit from this practice.

In order to prevent any confusion or sense of unfairness during the exam, the MEB made school and hall planning based on this data:

Students who requested a nutrition package and those who did not were, as a rule, placed in different exam buildings or different halls.

In small districts where the number of students who did not request a package remains below 40, these students will be admitted to the exam in the same building but strictly in different halls. Thus, students who receive their packages during the break will not come side-by-side with those who do not.
