A score of 50 on the KPSS is enough: Diyanet's number of personnel exceeds the population of 4 cities

The Presidency of Religious Affairs, which has a budget of 130 billion 119 million TL for 2025, draws attention with its ever-increasing number of personnel, in addition to its luxurious and ostentatious spending.

Diyanet, under the leadership of Ali Erbaş, which employed 145 thousand 113 personnel in 2024, has opened a job posting to hire 4,000 imams, claiming that the number of personnel is 'insufficient'.

Of the imams to be employed in the provincial organization, 2,500 will be graduates of theology faculties and hafiz (those who have memorized the Quran), while 1,500 will be graduates of theology associate degree programs, imam hatip high schools, and hafiz programs.

A BASE SCORE OF 50 IS REQUIRED

According to the report by Sözcü, a base score of 50 from the KPSS is required for application. 12 thousand imam hatip candidates will be called for an oral exam.

Thus, the number of personnel will exceed the populations of Tunceli (89 thousand - 2 deputies), Gümüşhane (148 thousand - 2 deputies), Ardahan (92 thousand - 2 deputies), and Bayburt (86 thousand - 2 deputies).

NUMBER OF PERSONNEL AND BUDGET SURPASS 13 MINISTRIES

Diyanet's number of personnel also surpasses 13 ministries, including the Ministry of Family and Social Services, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Trade.
