A snowstorm awaits Turkey: Snowfall to be effective in 8 provinces

The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced that snowfall will be effective in 8 provinces of Turkey. On a day when temperatures are hovering near seasonal norms, the impact of snowy weather will increase, and a cold wave is set to hit Turkey in the coming days.

According to forecasts made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, the northern, inner, and eastern parts of the country are expected to be partly to very cloudy, with precipitation expected in the north of Marmara, the Black Sea (excluding Çorum), the east of Eastern Anatolia, the east of Southeastern Anatolia, and the surroundings of Ankara, Çankırı, Yozgat, and Bingöl, while other areas are expected to be partly and slightly cloudy.

METEOROLOGY ANNOUNCED 8 PROVINCES WHERE SNOW IS EXPECTED

While air temperatures are expected to continue hovering around seasonal norms, the wind is generally expected to blow from the north, and from the south in the Black Sea, at light to occasionally moderate strength.

A Friday with less precipitation compared to previous days will prevail across the country, but Meteorology has also warned of the provinces where snow is expected. Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, Van, Muş, Bayburt, Hakkari, and Bitlis will be under the influence of snow.

The precipitation expected today is anticipated to be in the form of rain and showers, and sleet and snow in the inner parts of the Black Sea, the north and east of Eastern Anatolia, and the high altitudes of Ankara, Çankırı, and Yozgat; however, the weather, which is relatively mild today, will become harsher tomorrow.
