Abdulkadir Selvi targets Ali Koç over 'Atatürk': 'Will you wear an Atatürk t-shirt?'
Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, in his column today, referenced the Super Cup crisis and targeted Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç over Atatürk. Pointing out that Otokar is in talks with Saudi Arabia, Selvi asked Ali Koç, 'Will you wear an Atatürk t-shirt?'
During the Super Cup crisis in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, a “FETÖ” debate had erupted between Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi and Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç.
Following the postponement of the match after Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray teams were not permitted to take the field with Atatürk t-shirts and banners, Selvi wrote a piece criticizing Koç and Fenerbahçe, stating, "Of all the things to find for the match to be played in Saudi Arabia, was the phrase 'Peace at home, peace in the world,' used by FETÖ members during the July 15 coup attempt, the only thing you could come up with?"
Koç had responded to Selvi by saying, “You are a man who once wept tears for FETÖ; who are you to associate Fenerbahçe with FETÖ?”
WILL YOU WEAR AN ATATÜRK T-SHIRT?
In his column today, Selvi pointed out that Ali Koç is the Chairman of the Board of the Koç-owned company Otokar and that the firm is in negotiations with Saudi Arabia for a 500 million dollar armored vehicle sale. Stating, “Ali Koç, I will not say 'you' (ulan) like you did, I will only ask questions,” Selvi posed the following questions:
1- Will you insist on including an “Atatürk” clause when making the agreement with the Saudis?
2- If the agreement is signed, will you wear an “Atatürk t-shirt”?
3- Will you have a “Peace at home, peace in the world” banner opened at the venue where the agreement will be signed?
Selvi wrote, “Let's see if you will demand for your own company's interests what you demanded for Turkey.”
