Academics to speak at the reconciliation commission this week: Here are the names attending the meeting
As part of the new reconciliation process dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey,' the commission established in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) will host academics, regional associations, and business world representatives today and tomorrow.
Parliamentary work continues on the new reconciliation process, which the government calls 'Terror-Free Turkey' and for which MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli is the architect.
Within the scope of the process, the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission established in the TBMM will hold consecutive meetings over two days this week.
ACADEMICS' VIEWS WILL BE SOUGHT
According to NTV, the first session of the commission's 10th meeting is reserved for academics who are experts in the fields of conflict resolution and peace studies. Prof. Dr. Havva Kök Arslan, Prof. Dr. Sevtap Yokuş Veznedaroğlu, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Betül Çelik, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çerağ Esra Çuhadar will share their experiences and suggestions.
MEDIATION EXPERIENCE THROUGH THE PHILIPPINES EXAMPLE
In the second session, ambassadors who took part in bringing the 40-year conflict between the Moro Muslims and the state in the Philippines to a peaceful conclusion will be heard. Ambassador Fatih Ulusoy and Hüseyin Oruç will recount the process of the Peace Agreement signed in 2014 and their mediation experiences.
The conflicts between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the government in the Philippines, which had been ongoing since the 1970s, had cost hundreds of thousands of lives. The long-standing conflicts ended in 2014 through the mediation of the ambassadors, and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front laid down its arms.
Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Kaynak, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vahap Coşkun, and the President of the National Intelligence Academy, Prof. Dr. Talha Köse, will also take the floor in this session.
REGIONAL ASSOCIATIONS AND BUSINESS WORLD REPRESENTATIVES
At the 11th meeting to be held tomorrow, associations from Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia, as well as representatives of industrialists and business people, will convey their views. The commission will evaluate solution proposals regarding the problems in the region in light of these discussions.
