Access to social media platforms restricted
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been detained. In line with the government's instructions, internet access was restricted; citizens attempted to follow the process via social media, but it was not possible to access social media platforms either.
According to data from the internet monitoring organization NetBlocks, access to Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube platforms has been restricted in Turkey.
According to Downdetector reports based on user feedback, there were also access issues on the X (formerly Twitter) platform, but it is stated that this issue has been resolved as of now.
The restrictions began following reports that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu had been detained.
