Action taken following presenter Özuğurlu's remarks on Tayfur: RTÜK launches 'Ferdi Tayfur' investigation into TELE1

The music world was shaken by the death of Ferdi Tayfur.

TELE1 presenter Musa Özuğurlu's remarks about Ferdi Tayfur, "Ferdi Tayfur has died, and everyone is praising him so much. He was terrible from an artistic perspective. We are talking about someone who made tearful arabesque music. When I look at it musically, he was terrible, that's it," drew backlash.

RTÜK announced that the TELE1 broadcast is being reviewed due to those remarks and that a report will be prepared.

RTÜK Chairman Ebubekir Şahin made the following statement regarding the matter:

"The unethical comments made on the Tele 1 screen regarding our artist Ferdi Tayfur, a painful loss for our music world, have come to our attention.

The disrespectful behavior shown on air toward our late artist, who had become a public figure and won the hearts of the masses, is being examined by our Supreme Council experts.

Ferdi Tayfur, who left his fans in grief with his painful passing, will always maintain his place in the hearts of our noble nation.

It is impossible for us to accept the disrespect shown toward his moral personality, his family, and his loved ones. Following the investigation initiated in accordance with both the Law and the broadcasting ethical rules accepted by the media, the expert report to be prepared will be brought to the RTÜK agenda shortly."
