Action taken for neonatal intensive care units following the scandal
Following the 'neonatal gang' scandal that led to the deaths of 12 babies, the Ministry of Health has taken action to re-evaluate the operations of neonatal intensive care units. The Ministry has revoked the licenses of 10 private hospitals and initiated inspection and improvement efforts for all hospitals.
The Ministry of Health has taken a significant step following the scandal that led to the deaths of 12 babies.
In order to restructure the current system in neonatal intensive care units, an inspection and evaluation commission consisting of 13 people, comprised of Turkey's leading neonatal intensive care experts, has been established. This commission will review the operations of all neonatal intensive care units in private and public hospitals from top to bottom.

The Ministry announced that while it has revoked the licenses of a total of 10 private hospitals during the investigation process, inspections in hospitals across the country will be increased, and deficiencies in the system will be identified and reorganized.
The commission will prepare a scientific guide on neonatal intensive care units in the coming period and will bring structural reforms for private hospitals to the agenda.
