Activity at Istanbul Airport: People are leaving Lebanon

In Lebanon, where Israel has intensified its airstrikes and a ground offensive is on the agenda, people have begun to leave their country.

Those leaving Beirut, the capital of Lebanon—where Turkish Airlines (THY) and Pegasus have canceled flights for security reasons—are arriving in Turkey via Istanbul flights operated by Middle East Airlines, which continues its services. Lebanese citizens arriving in Istanbul are then traveling to join their relatives in Europe.

"PEOPLE ARE WATCHING WHAT IS HAPPENING IN TERROR"

Speaking to journalists at Istanbul Airport, Lebanese citizens said, “Lebanon is in a very bad state right now. There have been many explosions in Beirut over the last few days. People are watching what is happening in terror. We need international help and prayers for our country."

"WE WANT LEBANON TO BE A SAFE COUNTRY"

Lebanese journalist Lina Jihaab, who said she came to Istanbul after the events in Beirut, stated, “The situation in Beirut is not good after the recent events. As everyone knows, there are only a few safe zones in Lebanon. Even though I don't live there, I chose to come to Istanbul. I will stay here for a few days and follow what is happening on television. I hope the Lebanese army will be everywhere in the country, and we will return. We want Lebanon to be a safe country like other countries in the world."
