Major Adana-based illegal betting operation: 47 detained across 23 provinces

A large-scale investigation, coordinated by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Gendarmerie General Command's Cybercrime Combat Department, and the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), has dealt one of the biggest blows to illegal betting networks across Turkey. Security forces, acting on the meticulous tracking by the Adana Provincial Gendarmerie Command, carried out simultaneous raids in 23 provinces to dismantle the organized crime network.

BILLIONS OF LIRA IN ACCOUNTS AND LUXURY ASSETS SEIZED

It was determined that the 47 suspects captured within the scope of the operation were managing the panels of illegal betting sites using information systems. The suspects were also found to have played an active role in the process of laundering and transferring the illicit funds generated through these sites.

The financial scale of the operation was staggering. Experts examining the 5 billion TL money traffic conducted by the network tracked the proceeds of the crime. As a result of the investigation, court-ordered injunctions were placed on 1 shell company, 23 residences, 29 luxury vehicles, 13 plots of land, as well as 4 thousand 742 bank accounts and 6 crypto asset accounts determined to belong to the criminal organization.

In an official statement regarding the operation, the Ministry of Interior emphasized that the fight against criminal groups that defraud the public and generate illicit gains will continue with unwavering determination, stating, "We congratulate our heroic Gendarmerie, our Department, our MASAK, our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and all those who contributed."
