AFAD announces 'cash assistance' for İzmir and Aydın fires

While our forests were damaged due to fires that broke out between August 14-20 in İzmir, Aydın, Manisa, Muğla, Bolu, Uşak, Karabük, and Çankırı, many citizens were also evacuated to safe areas as a precaution.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that cash assistance will be provided to citizens whose homes and workplaces were damaged in areas declared as "disaster areas affecting general life" due to forest fires in İzmir and Aydın.

The statement noted that 5,381 citizens were evacuated to safe areas as a precaution because the fires were close to residential areas.

Providing information regarding the areas evacuated as a precaution, the statement reported that Yeşilova Neighborhood in İzmir's Bayındır district; Doğançay, Körfez, and Onur neighborhoods in Bayraklı district; Latife Hanım and Sancaklı neighborhoods in Karşıyaka district; Çayırlı Neighborhood in Tire district; Hışımlar and Örmepınar neighborhoods in Aydın's Bozdoğan district; and Hisar Neighborhood in Didim district have been declared disaster areas affecting general life.

Stating that "entitlement" assessments have begun in the neighborhoods of İzmir and Aydın affected by the fire, the statement included the following:

"Citizens whose homes and workplaces were affected by the fire must apply to our AFAD Provincial Directorates. Cash assistance will be provided to our citizens whose homes and workplaces were damaged due to the forest fires, following the damage assessment studies. We stand with our nation with all the means and institutions of our state."
