Revealed by AFAD report: While citizens struggle, the government has been pouring money into the world!

It has emerged from the Humanitarian Aid Report published by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) in 2019 that millions of dollars in cash aid were provided by Turkey to various countries.

The financial scale of the aid provided to a total of 58 countries, including the Philippines, Gambia, Libya, Myanmar, Lebanon, Bangladesh, and Palestine, is noteworthy.

1 BILLION 187 MILLION DOLLARS TO SYRIA

According to the report, Syria topped the list of recipients of the most financial aid between 2009 and 2019, receiving 1 billion 187 million dollars.

Furthermore, Turkey holds the distinction of being the country hosting the largest number of Syrian refugees in the world, with a figure exceeding 4 million.

Following Syria, 202 million 146 thousand dollars in cash aid was provided to Palestine, 10 million 362 thousand dollars to Myanmar, and 10 million 65 thousand dollars to Lebanon.

“GENEROUS TO THE WORLD, STINGY TO ITS CITIZENS”

NOW Main News anchor Burak Birsen criticized the aid in question. Birsen stated, “We have a management approach that is generous to the world but stingy to its own citizens.”

Citizens, who have been struggling to make a living in the face of high inflation and the high cost of living in recent years, are complaining about the government's irresponsibility regarding the economy. At a time when pension salaries cannot even cover half of the housing rents, the foreign aid provided by the government through AFAD is drawing reactions from citizens.
