Aggravated life sentence for defendant who slit the throat of his relative, a mother of two, for her bracelets

In the incident that occurred on May 25 on the 13th floor of a 17-story apartment complex in the Balaç neighborhood of the Atakum district, Fatih Yıldırım (41) went to his home after being unable to reach his wife. With the help of a neighbor, he opened the fire escape door with a screwdriver and entered the apartment. Yıldırım found his wife, Kader Yıldırım (39), a mother of two, motionless with her throat slit. Police and medical teams arriving at the scene determined that Kader Yıldırım had lost her life. Upon taking the statement of her husband, Fatih Yıldırım, the police learned that the gold bracelets on his wife's arm had been stolen. As a result of their investigation, the police determined that the murder was committed by Mehmet Işık (32), the son of the deceased woman's husband's aunt, who lived on the 3rd floor of the same building. 

Mehmet Işık, who was apprehended and taken into custody, confessed that he had a debt of 300 thousand TL and that he committed the murder to take the woman's bracelets. A lawsuit was filed against Mehmet Işık, who was arrested by the court, with a demand for an aggravated life sentence. In the second hearing of the case held today at the Samsun 2nd High Criminal Court, the court sentenced Mehmet Işık to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of murder and 12 years in prison for the crime of robbery, and decided that his detention should continue.
