Ahmet Hakan targets Yavaş for reacting to Bahçeli's 'Öcalan' call: 'Very calculated, very planned, very opportunistic, very insincere'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call regarding Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, continues to occupy the agenda.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş reacted to Bahçeli's call, which has become a major topic of discussion, by stating, "It is truly contrary to the legal system in Turkey for someone who has been accepted as a terrorist leader and leader of a terrorist organization by both Turkish courts and the European Court of Human Rights, and whose sentence has been upheld, to be taken as an interlocutor." In his latest statement, Yavaş assessed, "No one has any authority on these matters. No one has the right to impose anything on Turkey on their own, by their own decision. The final word belongs to the Turkish nation."

Hürriyet Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan, known for his proximity to the government, reacted to these statements by Yavaş.

"Is Mansur Yavaş truly deeply troubled and obsessed with Öcalan being taken as an interlocutor? Or is the real reason for him taking a stance something else?" asked Ahmet Hakan, who then assessed, "Mansur Yavaş sticking his head out seems very calculated, very planned, very opportunistic, and very insincere to me," and added:

"If he had taken even a tiny stance, shown a small attitude, or expressed a two-line opinion on the many national issues discussed until now, I would never have thought this way."

"Mansur Yavaş, who has preferred to remain silent, not get involved in anything, and avoid commenting even if the world were burning until now, has been able to take a stance on an issue for the first time.
