Ahmet Hakan's 'inaccurate' election prediction column becomes a trending topic on social media
Journalist Ahmet Hakan, who followed the local elections on a live broadcast and left the studio as the results became clear, has become a trending topic on social media due to a column he wrote about the local elections on March 17.
Following the March 31 elections, the CHP became the leading party based on the votes received. While Ekrem İmamoğlu won in Istanbul and Mansur Yavaş in Ankara, many provinces and districts previously held by the AKP and MHP also shifted to the CHP.
Journalist Ahmet Hakan, who was reporting on the election on CNN Türk, became a trending topic after leaving the broadcast as the results began to become clear.
During the live broadcast, Hakan said, "If you will allow me, I would like to leave; we have a newspaper to publish tomorrow. We need to convey these results to our citizens through the newspaper. Therefore, I will ask for your permission," and departed from the broadcast.
HIS MARCH 17 COLUMN BECOMES A TRENDING TOPIC
Beyond his behavior during the live broadcast, a column Hakan wrote on March 17 also became a trending topic. In the column he wrote regarding the local elections, Hakan had stated the following:

While eyes are turned to Istanbul and Ankara, the real surprise will happen in Izmir.
-In Şanlıurfa, Kasım Gülpınar, who is running as a candidate for the New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah), will not be able to prevent Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül from being elected, even if he chips away at some votes.
-Maçoğlu will not find what he hopes for in Kadıköy.
-In Hatay, Lütfü Savaş will receive a very significant slap.
-In Eskişehir, the CHP will not be able to win comfortably and professionally.
-In Antalya, Muhittin Böcek will not find what he hopes for this time.
-In Üsküdar and Tuzla, the AK Party will win by a wide margin.
-In Istanbul, there will be no break between the two candidates. The neck-and-neck situation will continue.
-In Muğla, there will be an Aydın Ayaydın surprise.
-The IYI Party will be the third party across Turkey.
-DEM will lose votes again.
-The New Welfare Party will say 'I wish'.
