Ahmet Hakan's advice to the AKP for Istanbul: If they do the opposite of these, they cannot win
Hürriyet newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan, known for his proximity to the government, offered advice to the AKP on how to win Istanbul in his column titled 'Can the AK Party win Istanbul?'
As the local elections approach, the AKP's highly anticipated candidate for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor is former Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum.
Following Kurum's candidacy, journalist Ahmet Hakan, known for his proximity to the government, listed what the AKP must do to win in Istanbul.
In his article titled 'Can the AK Party win Istanbul?', Ahmet Hakan stated the following:
"If they do not approach the situation ideologically. If they proceed solely and exclusively through service. If they make winning votes from the other side their primary issue. If they set out with effective, credible, and convincing projects against earthquakes. If they emphasize promises that will make life in Istanbul livable. If they make the subject of discussion solely and exclusively Istanbul. If they do not engage in unnecessary polemics with İmamoğlu. If they bring a perfect solution to the stray dog and taxi issues. If they develop projects that will color the lives of young people. If they focus on what they will do rather than what has not been done. They can win. If they do the opposite of these... They cannot win."
