Ahmet Özer speaks after his release: I thank MHP Chairman Bahçeli, but half of my heart remains inside

Ahmet Özer made the following statements in his remarks:

Freedom is the most beautiful thing in the world; unfortunately, I cannot fully experience the joy of freedom today because I left half of my heart inside. Our IMM Mayor İmamoğlu, our Adana Metropolitan Mayor Karalar, and the senior bureaucrats of our municipality are still inside, and that is why I cannot fully experience the joy of this freedom.

The picture that has emerged, especially with the publication of the indictment regarding the IMM today, is also extremely sad... In the process our country is going through, we need law, democracy, and legal security.

We need democracy to function with all its institutions. I also believe that my case should serve as an example for the release of our elected mayors pending trial.

We are going through a peace process; my greatest sorrow was not being able to contribute enough to the process, and from today on, I will contribute more than enough.

I thank MHP Chairman Bahçeli for his support for the process. I also underline that Feti Yıldız's statements prioritizing the law are important.

I and 10 Esenyurt Municipality personnel were arrested along with me. I heard that 2-3 other people were released along with me. However, we still have personnel inside, and this saddens me. I hope that justice and law will prevail in a short time and those inside will regain their freedom.

While I was working at full speed day and night for 7 months, trying to carry our Esenyurt into the future, our path was suddenly blocked by this operation. This is also something that saddens me. While making my defense in court, I did it on behalf of the Esenyurt voters as well. We need to reach days when the will of the voter and the elected will prevail within democratic rules.

I also hope for a positive decision regarding the municipalities where trustees have been appointed. I hope that this usurpation of will will also be ended during this peace process.

I send my greetings to our friends inside; our mayor's wife, Dilek Hanım, was also here with us with her resilience. I also thank my lawyers, and I have a special thanks for my family, for my wife and my son...

However, my most important thanks go to my daughter... She made a great effort for everyone and will continue to make this effort from now on.

I would like to express my gratitude to Özgür Çelik, the tireless defender of the process; he was with us every day throughout this process. I thank him for the effort he has carried out.

I also want to thank our Chairman. On the first day of being released, joy and sorrow are intertwined. The struggle for freedom and democracy is the most honorable struggle. Prices are paid in such times, and thanks to them, our hopes remain alive. I want to state that we will show every effort for our country to experience these days and live in prosperity and peace from now on.
