Akın Gürlek booed while Özgür Özel speaks in Nevşehir: 'May God not let anyone fall into this state in their own hometown!'

The 'Protecting the National Will' rallies, launched by the CHP with the demand for the release of Ekrem İmamoğlu and early elections, continue.

The 104th rally was held in Nevşehir, the hometown of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek.

When Özel mentioned Akın Gürlek during his speech, whistling sounds rose from the crowd. Upon this, Özel stated, “May God not let anyone fall into this state in their own hometown!”

Key highlights from Özel's statements are as follows:

"Greetings to those filling this square today, and to those who protect the ballot box, which is a gain of the Republic. We came here today to embrace each other against all evils and to draw strength from one another. Those who received your votes in the general election turned their backs on Nevşehir afterward. I bow with respect before everyone in Nevşehir who strives to earn votes from the nation and believes in the ballot box.

Nevşehir paid 10.5 billion liras in taxes in 2025 but received 3.4 billion TL in investment. There is a mentality in Nevşehir that takes by the bushel from the producer and gives back by the spoonful. The day will come, the ballot box will come, and Nevşehir will elect a President; we promise you that on that day, we will repay what was taken many times over.

Nevşehir is a city where one touch brings a thousand sighs. They haven't even built a ring road for this city. Trucks and lorries from all over the world pass through the city, and people are left in the smell of diesel. We will build that road within a year and save Nevşehir from this suffering.

4.5 million tourists come to Nevşehir annually, but they stay for an average of only 2 days. It is necessary to find a way for those tourists to stay longer in this city. We will do that too. They finished off small tradesmen and small guesthouses. Turkey's giant firms get all kinds of permits, but they make life miserable for small businesses.

Others enjoy the pleasures of this city, while the youth suffer the hardships. I swear that we will make the faces of this city and its youth smile. The farmers and villagers who drop the sweat of their brows onto these lands are here. But they are experiencing greater difficulties every day. In two months, the support given to agriculture is 2 billion TL, but the money paid for interest is 640 billion TL. Normally, it should be 1% of the GDP, which is 772 billion TL. Under a CHP government, no SCT or VAT will be collected on the diesel used by farmers, and electricity debts will be collected at harvest time, after you have received your money.

"DOES HE COME HERE AND HOLD A RALLY WHEN THERE IS NO ELECTION?"

A President will come from the CHP, which says 'The farmer is the master of the nation,' to lead this country. There is a government that ignores and looks down on you. They have entered such a system that they say you should cast your vote and then step aside. Does he come here and hold a rally when there is no election, does he ask what your trouble is, does he come to the coffeehouse and ask how you are?

"THERE IS AN ELECTION IN NEVŞEHİR ON JUNE 7"

The late Demirel was in competition with the late Ecevit. One was the king of dams, the other was the Conqueror of Cyprus. Now there are those who do not appear before us, and those who look down on those who do. We will continue to be by your side at all times. There is an election in Nevşehir on June 7. There will be an election in the Mustafapaşa town of Ürgüp. I entrust Mayor Ömer to you so that you may protect him in these elections. If Mayor Ömer is elected, he will have the support of our Mersin and Ankara Metropolitan Mayors on his shoulders.

Inflation has exceeded 10% in 3 months. The high cost of living does not stop. When inflation falls, the price of the goods or products you buy does not fall. It just means there is a smaller price hike compared to the previous year. In 2002, you could buy 8 quarter gold coins with the lowest pension, but today it has fallen to a quarter of that; you can only buy 2 quarter gold coins. The average pension received by all retirees is 23 thousand TL. If they hadn't touched the retirees at all, a retiree who should be receiving a 42 thousand TL pension is receiving an average of 23 thousand TL.

The Ecevit they didn't like left the government with the lowest pension at 1.5 times the minimum wage. Mr. Erdoğan used to say that we should make an interim raise to the minimum wage until inflation falls to single digits. An interim raise is necessary for the minimum wage, as well as for retiree and civil servant salaries. He was saying that an interim raise could be made four times. A country is not managed for yourself, but to provide for the nation. Now it is time to say that if there is no livelihood, there is an election, to send this government away, and to bring a government that will look after the worker, the civil servant, and the farmer. Together, we will bring that ballot box and change this government. The bans will end, and a free Turkey where the youth smile will come.

"MEHMET ŞİMŞEK WAS THE FINANCIAL WING OF THE MARCH 19 COUP"

Mehmet Şimşek gave the bad news. He says inflation will rise, the budget deficit will rise. He blames it all on the war. He says there is inflation because there is a war. Mehmet Şimşek was the financial wing of the March 19 coup. When they arrested Mayor Ekrem, they were burning through our foreign exchange reserves. He announced it on April 1st, saying we burned 60 billion dollars during the multiple shocks period on March 19. He says we burned 50 billion dollars in the Iran war as well. He himself says if we hadn't burned that 60 billion dollars, we wouldn't have been affected by this Iran war at all. When oil prices rose, he raised electricity and natural gas prices by 25%.

The price of a kilo of tomatoes jumped from 65 liras to 150 liras in an instant. Why? Because the main cost while going from the place of production to Istanbul is the diesel cost, and everything from needles to thread is getting a price hike. In the world, countries where inflation was 2 and rose to 4 intervened. If the money prepared for the coup last year had been kept aside, we wouldn't have experienced any of this. He is explaining the multiple shocks to the world.

"YOU ARE LOADING THE COST OF THE OPERATION ONTO THE PUBLIC"

You are loading the cost of keeping Mayor Ekrem inside and conducting operations against CHP municipalities onto the public. Save Turkey from bad management; either you will do this, or this nation will bury you in the ballot box in the first election.

One of the biggest cases in Turkish political history is being heard in Silivri. They called Mayor Ekrem a thief, corrupt, agent, diploma forger, and terrorist. A person can be 5 things at the same time. You are closing the doors of the hearing. Your problem is being afraid and not facing Mayor Ekrem. Mr. Erdoğan said that one day people would not be able to look into each other's eyes.

"WE SUBMIT A PROPOSAL, THEY REJECT IT IN THE VOTE"

We said we are waiting for that indictment not to be judged, but to judge. We wanted the hearing to be broadcast live, we said so. Mr. Devlet said, if they want it, let it be a live broadcast so the nation can see. Erdoğan said, 'If Mr. Devlet says so, it is appropriate.' The indictment came out, and none of the slanders they threw were in the indictment. We submit a proposal to Parliament for a live broadcast, and they reject it in the vote. Would we want a live broadcast if there was an account we couldn't give? Those who turned into informants say, 'They threatened me with my child, that's why I signed. Now I am telling the truth, what I said is not true. I said I heard it too,' they say.

I kiss the hands of all fathers. This includes Akın Gürlek's father. I am speaking to the conscience of Nevşehir; Mr. Akın has a father, and Mr. Ekrem's father also has a father. Mehmet Murat Çalık also has an 85-year-old mother, do you know that? They arrest them, tell them to slander to reunite with their child, and send them to Silivri. They exiled women who were in a position to look after their children alone to Düzce and Afyon. They tell them to slander Mayor Ekrem and you will get out. Saying your son cannot handle hardship, they put 26-year-old Mustafa in a 60-person ward in Silivri. They call his father every month and tell him to sign and get out. Stop messing with families. Shame on those who mess with families.

"WE KNOW NEVŞEHİR FOR ITS BEAUTIES, NOT FOR ITS COUP PLOTTERS"

When we come to power, we will not do to anyone what has been done to us. Let no one think that if the CHP comes, they will persecute us. We are people with conscience and clean hearts. No evil will come to anyone from us; only the handful of people who did these things will be held accountable before justice. The day will come, the tide will turn, and the coup plotters will be held accountable by the people. We know Nevşehir for its beauties, not for its coup plotters. Kenan Evren was also my fellow townsman; sometimes these things happen.

This election will not be between two parties. It will be between those who want democracy and those who say let the one-man regime continue. This election will be between Erdoğan and the Turkey Alliance. The Turkey Alliance consists of conservative democrats, nationalist democrats, liberals, socialists, Kurds, and social democrats. Greetings to all democrats who have no problem with Atatürk and the Turkish flag. The Turkey Alliance also takes its colors, red and white, from our Crescent and Star flag.

"BRING THE BALLOT BOX, HOLD THE GENERAL ELECTION"

We say let there be an election for the empty seats. In Istanbul, Murat Kurum became a minister, Sırrı Süreyya passed away. I say come, let's set up a ballot box in Istanbul's 1st District. Mr. Erdoğan, I say you were the first party in the 1st District, in Hatay, in Kırıkkale; come, let's put the ballot box. Either you will hold an early election, or you will go down in history as a leader who ran away from the election. An interim raise is essential for retirees and workers, and an election is essential for democracy. For us to give up on the by-election, bring the ballot box and hold the general election."
