AKOM issues warning with specific time: Do not hit the road unless necessary!

AKOM stated in its announcement that the rainfall, which has been effective in Istanbul since Thursday, will continue today.

It was noted that the downpours, which have been occurring at short intervals on the European side and around the Bosphorus since the morning hours, will increase in intensity on the Anatolian side and around the Bosphorus in the evening. According to AKOM's meteorological assessment, it was emphasized that the Anatolian side, in particular, is expected to receive rainfall exceeding 100 kilograms per hour, which is considered an extreme value, starting from 18:00.

BE CAUTIOUS

In the statement made by AKOM, it was noted that while measures are being taken against potential negative consequences such as floods, stream overflows, water inundation, landslides, retaining wall collapses, ponding, being stranded, and transportation disruptions due to extreme rainfall, Istanbul residents were also urged not to hit the road unless necessary and to be cautious against any adverse conditions.

IMM TEAMS RESPONDED TO 3,667 REPORTS

It was stated that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) teams have responded to a total of 3,667 reports from across the province with 3,430 personnel and 1,658 vehicles and construction equipment, and it was emphasized that 707 people and 15 animals who were stranded due to rainfall exceeding 200 kilograms per hour in some districts were rescued by fire department teams.
