Warning from AKOM for Istanbul: 'Hidden danger'

Temperatures in Istanbul have dropped significantly since the beginning of the week. In various parts of the city, thermometers have been observed dropping to as low as 3 degrees during the night and morning hours. This change in weather conditions, combined with dew and frost following precipitation, creates a risk of black ice for drivers in some sections of the roads.

Authorities have urged drivers to be cautious against unexpected icing, especially on bridges, viaducts, and open areas, due to the effect of cold and frosty weather. Vehicle users have been asked to avoid sudden braking and sharp maneuvers, and to adjust their speed according to road conditions.

On this day, with the cold weather prevailing, the highest temperatures are expected to hover around 7 degrees. Experts stated that a gradual increase in air temperature will be observed in the coming days.

While no precipitation is expected on Wednesday, the sky will be partly cloudy and the temperature will reach 9 degrees. It was reported that intermittent rain showers may occur on Thursday and Friday, although temperatures are projected to reach 12 degrees.

The weather will be milder over the weekend. Saturday will be dry, and the temperature is expected to rise to 14 degrees. On Sunday, thermometers are estimated to show 15 degrees, following a trend close to seasonal norms.

Authorities emphasized that the risk of icing will decrease as the weather warms up in the coming days, but that caution should be exercised on the roads, especially this morning and tomorrow morning.
