AKP congress to be held at a public school! 'The Ministry of National Education should not be used for any political activity'

The fact that the 7th Ordinary Silivri Youth Branch Congress of the AKP is to be held at Silivri Middle School has drawn backlash. Numerous AKP banners were hung in the school's courtyard and conference hall. CHP Silivri District Chair İbrahim Kömür stated, "There are two 'national' institutions in the country that must be purged of politics. One of these is the Ministry of National Education, and the other is the National Intelligence Organization. Neither of these two institutions should ever be used for any political activity or meeting."

AKP congress to be held at a public school! 'The Ministry of National Education should not be used for any political activity'

The AKP Youth Branch's district congresses in Istanbul are ongoing. The venue for the 7th Ordinary Congress to be held in Silivri this evening has drawn attention. It was announced that the congress will be held at the Ministry of National Education-affiliated Silivri Middle School at 19:00 this evening.

According to the report by ANKA, a video was prepared specifically for the congress by the Silivri Youth Branch. The footage shared on social media included preparations made in the school's conference hall, accompanied by music featuring the words, "The right time, the right man, right now for the youth." AKP and Turkish flags were placed on the seats. In footage recorded by a citizen, it was seen that a giant AKP flag was also hung in the school's courtyard.

In a post made from the AK Youth Istanbul social media account, the following statements were included: "We congratulate Utku Kapucu, who is our District Chair Candidate again for the new term, and we hope it will be auspicious for our district, our organization, and our Istanbul."

CHP Silivri District Chair İbrahim Kömür also reacted to the issue in a statement, saying, "There are two 'national' institutions in the country that must be purged of politics. One of these is the Ministry of National Education, and the other is the National Intelligence Organization. Neither of these two institutions should ever be used for any political activity or meeting. These are supra-party institutions. Unfortunately, I regretfully condemn the ruling party's Youth Branch Congress held at Silivri Middle School."
