AKP Mayor of Istanbul's Güngören district, Bünyamin Demir, has taken a radical step to pay off the municipality's approximately 160 million TL tax debt by bringing the transfer of certain properties to the Treasury to the agenda.

The proposal, presented at the October municipal council session, plans for the transfer of mosques, healthcare areas, parks, and a public garden.

According to the report by İsmail Arı from BirGün, the properties proposed to be transferred in exchange for the municipality's debts include four mosques: Üçyüzlü Mosque, Fetih Mosque, Kuyulu Mosque, and Sancaktepe Mosque. Additionally, five healthcare areas and one public garden are among the properties to be transferred to the Treasury.

The proposal is expected to be accepted with the support of the majority of AKP council members. With the implementation of this decision, the aim is to settle the municipality's tax debts.
