AKP mayor arrested as part of 'extortion' investigation: Had been referred to disciplinary board
Eight suspects, including AKP Yahşihan Mayor Ahmet Sungur, who were detained in Kırıkkale as part of an investigation into "extortion by coercion," have been referred to the courthouse. Five suspects, including Sungur, were arrested by the court, while three others were released under judicial control.
Under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, as part of an investigation conducted by the Provincial Security Directorate's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch into the Yahşihan Municipality on September 19, AKP Mayor Ahmet Sungur, Deputy Mayor C.Y., former Deputy Mayor O.U., Zoning Director S.A., municipal personnel Y.N.Y. and M.S., and former Zoning Director and businessman U.B. were detained.
5 PEOPLE ARRESTED
The police procedures for a total of 8 suspects, including S.G.Ç. who was apprehended in Ankara, have been completed.
The suspects were referred to the Kırıkkale Courthouse following health checks.
Five suspects, including Sungur, were arrested by the court, while 3 suspects were released under judicial control.
HAD BEEN REFERRED TO DISCIPLINARY BOARD
On the other hand, the AKP Central Executive Board had decided to refer Yahşihan Mayor Ahmet Sungur to the Central Disciplinary Board with a request for expulsion due to the ongoing judicial process against him.
