AKP Mayor reveals debts inherited from MHP
Karabük Mayor Özkan Çetinkaya announced the financial statement, reporting that the total debt stands at 623 million 734 thousand 627 TL.
AKP's Karabük Mayor Özkan Çetinkaya, who took over the seat from the MHP mayor following the March 31 elections, stated that as of April 1, 2024, the municipality's total debt was 623 million 734 thousand 627 TL.
In his statement, Mayor Çetinkaya said, “The itemized debts of our municipality are as follows: loans taken from Iller Bank are 182 million 145 thousand 281 TL, loans taken from private banks are 130 million 747 thousand TL, and debts to public institutions are 23 million 83 thousand 868 TL.”

The statement noted that expenditures and debts incurred by the municipality between January 1 and March 31, 2024, amounted to 287 million 758 thousand 478 TL, adding, “Based on this data, it is observed that 287 million 758 thousand 478 TL of the total debt was incurred within the last 3 months and no installment or restructuring has been made.
As a result of the examinations, considering the first 3-month period of 2024, it has been determined that our municipality's revenue was 94 million TL while our expenses were 115 million TL; despite this negative financial picture, our efforts to implement the projects we promised during our term will continue meticulously.”
