AKP member carries out armed attack on bank branch
An armed incident at a local bank branch in Zonguldak caused great fear among employees and customers. While no one was injured in the incident, the gunman was neutralized by police intervention and taken into custody.
The Soğuksu branch of Vakıfbank witnessed tense moments yesterday afternoon. According to allegations, Batuhan Hasanoğlu, an AKP Provincial Vice Chairman and owner of the AHO Aluminum Factory, came to the bank to protest the foreclosure and sale of his residence. Hasanoğlu, who went to the third floor of the bank due to the proceedings, fired randomly into the surroundings with a handgun he had brought with him.
Great panic ensued after the sound of gunfire was heard in the bank. A large number of police teams were dispatched to the scene in a short time. With the increase in security measures, customers and employees inside the bank were quickly evacuated.
With the successful intervention of police teams, Batuhan Hasanoğlu was neutralized and taken into custody in a short time. It was considered a great stroke of luck that no citizens were injured as a result of the shots fired in the bank. Following the incident, both the building where the bank is located and its surroundings were cordoned off.
It was stated that the health status of the evacuated bank employees and customers is good. The police, who have launched an investigation, are examining all aspects of the incident.
