AKP member İbrahim Efe, who threw himself on the ground, resigns with these words: 'Everyone looked at the result'
AKP İzmit Municipal Council member İbrahim Efe, who threw himself to the ground and rolled during an argument between teams from the CHP-run İzmit Municipality and the AKP-run Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, has announced his resignation via a social media post.
AKP council member İbrahim Efe, who made headlines after throwing himself on the ground in front of İzmit Mayor Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet, has announced that he is resigning from both the AKP and his council membership.
Efe stated, "Everyone looked at the result. No one asked for the reason, so be it, let them not ask. I did not act shamelessly, I did not act brazenly, I did not steal. I have not been involved in any work that would cause our dear friends to hang their heads in shame.
Regardless of region, party, or ethnic origin, I served in every condition, without regard for the concept of time, in every state and situation, during both the good and bad days of everyone.
As always, I succumbed to a momentary loss of anger control during an incident that developed in the name of serving our citizens. I was brought down. The events that followed really affected me personally, and especially my family," he said.
A disciplinary investigation had been launched against AKP İzmit Municipal Council member İbrahim Efe, who threw himself to the ground and rolled during an argument between teams from the CHP-run İzmit Municipality and the AKP-run Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality.
AKP Kocaeli Provincial Chair Şahin Talus had announced, "As a result of the consultations we held with our relevant boards, we have initiated the disciplinary process."
"IN ORDER TO PREVENT FURTHER HARM TO MY FAMILY AND MY PARTY..."
The party launched a disciplinary investigation into AKP İzmit Municipal Council member İbrahim Efe, who suddenly threw himself to the ground and rolled during an argument between teams from the CHP-run İzmit Municipality and the AK Party-run Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality.
Efe announced today that he has resigned without waiting for the investigation to be completed.
In his statement on his social media account, Efe said, "In order to prevent further harm to my family and my party, I am resigning from my İzmit Municipality council membership and from the party I have devoted my heart to."
Efe's post included the following expressions:
“Everyone looked at the result.
The events that followed really affected me personally, and especially my family. It deeply wounded us that it was forgotten that we are also human, that our feelings and emotions were disregarded, and that such a lynching attempt was carried out in the public eye. The events that took place can never turn us from our path; I am not resentful or angry at anyone, but I would like to thank the friends and colleagues who showed a stance during this process.
How strange it is that even issues where other videos were published did not become this much of an agenda. For this reason, in order to prevent further harm to my family and my party, I am resigning from my İzmit Municipality council membership and from the party I have devoted my heart to.”
