AKP's Nihat Zeybekçi defended trade with Israel with these words
AKP Deputy Chairman Nihat Zeybekçi's remarks in İzmir regarding trade with Israel have drawn backlash. Zeybekçi stated that while they condemn the massacre in Israel, there are aspects of trade that do not harm anyone.
Zeybekçi defended trade with Israel by saying, "We condemn with hatred the massacre of babies that Israel is committing against Muslims.
But on the other hand, regarding the parts of trade that do not harm anyone, Israel is a country with which we have a free trade agreement."
Zeybekçi's statements are as follows:
"We also have friends who have very important connections in Israel.
I mean, yes, we condemn with hatred and violence the genocide, the massacre, the massacre of babies that Israel is committing against Muslims in Palestine and Gaza, yes, there is nothing to say against that, but on the other hand, regarding the parts of trade that do not harm anyone...
Because it is a country with which we have a free trade agreement, meaning it is a country to which we sell 6 and buy 1.
In that sense, I believe we need to be more sensitive. We are working on this with our friends.
I personally believe that we should bring this to the agenda with the economic coordination and our relevant ministers and that it needs to go through a more sensitive adjustment."
