AKP members defended the gang members who defrauded AKP members: They marketed Kanal Istanbul

It has emerged that AKP Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) members Mücahit Birinci and Türk İslam Karakoç served as defense attorneys for a group that collected billions of dollars from AKP circles between 2011 and 2020 with the promise of high-yield funds.

According to the report by Zekeriya Albayrak from Sözcü, money was collected over the years from victims, including many business people, bureaucrats, politicians, and expatriates from different cities. The group leader, named Enver H., promised that Indonesia's first President Ahmed Sukarno had smuggled his gold to Switzerland after being released from house arrest, and that a 300 billion dollar fund would come to Turkey in exchange for this gold. Business people were given letters of commitment with fake documents and receipts, and high profits were promised with the slogan, "invest 10 million dollars, get 100 million dollars."

Complainants stated that while the money was being requested, promises were made that the fund to be established would provide financing for the construction of Kanal Istanbul and the 3rd bridge.

LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST 8 PEOPLE

A lawsuit was filed against 8 people, including Cengiz A., Ahmet A., Civan A., Enver H., Eren A., Ferit Baki B., İshak Ö., and Osman S. The group, which defrauded thousands of people with fake invoices and promissory notes, was tried at the Bursa 9th High Criminal Court. It was understood that a relative of a 26th-term AKP deputy was also among the victims. With the follow-up of the former deputy, some gang members were sent to prison but were released 7 months later.

In the fraud case file, which includes some AKP members as victims, the group's members were defended by two familiar names. AKP MKYK member Türk İslam Karakoç and former MKYK member Mücahit Birinci served as attorneys in the case file in Bursa. Karakoç withdrew his power of attorney after a while when his clients dismissed him.
