AKP's Özlem Zengin: 'Dilruba should be tried without arrest'

Discussions continue regarding Dilruba Y., who was arrested and sent to prison due to her remarks in a street interview. Although Dilruba was recently released from the charge of insulting the President, she remains in custody for the charge of inciting the public to hatred and enmity.

The latest remarks on the subject came from AKP Group Deputy Chairperson Özlem Zengin.

Appearing as a guest on the program "Sorgusuz Sualsiz" (Without Question or Inquiry) hosted by Armağan Çağlayan, Zengin made statements regarding the Dilruba Y. issue.

In response to Armağan Çağlayan's comment, "Why is Dilruba arrested? No one even knows," Zengin said the following:

"In my opinion, Dilruba should be tried without arrest; I am saying this upfront. She will likely be released at the first hearing. The issue here is this: I listened to her. Excuse me, but I haven't heard such an ignorant speech in a long time. Every sentence she said is wrong. She does not know the issue or the subject she is talking about."
