AKP Spokesperson Çelik: All necessary measures have been taken for Turkey's security

AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik is making statements regarding the MKYK meeting.

Ömer Çelik's statements:

As a result of Israel's brutal attack on Iran, we are all following an agenda that includes an open conflict before the world, the destruction of civilian infrastructure by Israel, and, even more gravely, the emergence of a nuclear danger.

Although there are greater dangers than those highlighted in the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, the necessary reaction is not being given. A picture has emerged in which every condition, including the UN Charter, is being violated.

Our President has set forth the AK Party's principle regarding this issue from the very beginning; he had said that we do not want anyone in the region to possess nuclear weapons, but they expected us to view Israel's possession of nuclear weapons as natural. When there were no conflicts, he had met with Netanyahu on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and said, "You criticize nuclear activities, but you yourselves possess nuclear weapons."

Israel's attack is, in a sense, an attack on the negotiating table. They assessed that there would be no attack while negotiations were ongoing. Whether the Strait of Hormuz can be closed is on the agenda. It would have many negative effects; while there is a greater danger, two things stand out here. The nuclear danger is not being discussed, but the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is.

Although the aggressor is Israel, they say that Israel's response could have dire consequences. For example, I looked at which facilities Israel hit today; it directly hit civilian targets. There is no legitimacy for Israel to attack Iran by using nuclear facilities as an excuse. If the nuclear issue is your target, why are you hitting civilian infrastructure? We condemn all kinds of attacks on Iran.

After October 7, Netanyahu mentioned in his first statement that he would fulfill certain prophecies. The attacks on Syria and Iran... have nothing to do with Israel's security. It is directly the aggression of the Netanyahu government. Both our armed forces and our other units have taken all kinds of measures for the security of Turkey. The intelligence agency has taken the necessary measures for internal security against any potential provocations that might occur within.

After the US attack, a picture emerged where much deeper conflicts could arise. While news regarding Iran's retaliation is being followed, Israeli aggression also continues. There can be no such action as talking about regime change. Shifting an attack to the goal of regime change, or an approach such as targeting the religious leader, can never be accepted. A threat to Iran's territorial integrity, such an attitude is going further in brutality.

There is no basis for describing these actions as being done for Israel's security. The only threat to Israel is the Netanyahu government itself. If a regime that has power in its hands tries to change other regimes, the world will turn into hell.

It had been said that Israel had no goal of regime change, and we had welcomed that. This propaganda of Israel should not turn into a form of politics. There can be no situation where anyone changes anyone else's regime.

One of the questions frequently asked to us during this process is the process of a terror-free Turkey. There is a matured strategy regarding the goal of a terror-free Turkey. We had said that Turkey would also be an inspiration for a terror-free region. Many power partners are trying to design our region through terrorist organizations. It is seen that a terror-free Turkey is an important strategy for both our country and our region. At the stage reached today, the organization must lay down its arms and this must be confirmed. This also needs to happen in a time that is not too far away.

We see that some have brought a multi-dimensional strategy to the agenda in the form of pitting parties against each other. Here, we reject all kinds of provocations, regardless of which group they are directed at, without discriminating against anyone. The church attack in Damascus is not separate from the developments in the region. DAESH did it, but we have information about who might be behind it. We will continue the will put forward by our President so as not to build walls between the peoples of the region.
